I have been in legal practice since May 2002, initially in Oamaru then in Dunedin, since October 2005. I joined the independent Bar in April 2015 following 13 years employed as a Barrister and Solicitor undertaking general litigation and legal services.
I was born and raised in Dunedin, where I now live with my own family.
A significant amount of my job satisfaction comes from helping people transition from a difficult, legally challenging time in their lives to a more positive one, so that they can continue to enjoy their own families and participate in the Dunedin community and all that it has to offer.
Family Court Matters
Throughout my career I have represented parents and extended family in the Family Court. I have acted in respect of issues arising from the Care of Children, Child Youth and Family, Paternity, Protection of Personal Property Rights, Separation and Relationship Property.
Since 2010 I have also been appointed by the Family Court to act as Lawyer for Children, and since 2013, as Lawyer for people subject to the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988.
District Court Matters
In the District Court I regularly appear as Duty Solicitor, and for both legally aided and private clients, as they negotiate the complex criminal justice system.
